Inquisitory Questions

Sorry to disappoint you. The questions posted here are from the first week of the Fall 2005 season, not Spring/Summer 2006. This is an experiment in presenting the questions on the Web.

I had been trying (though not expending much effort) to devise a method for showing the questions without the answers, but making the answers easily accessible. I wanted to do it in as simple a manner as possible, without a lot of programming. One solution is to have two different pages, one with and one without the answers, but that seems inelegant.

I found a solution on a site devoted to chess problems, (http://wtharvey.com/petr.html). ANSWER: 42

The answers are printed in the same colour as the background. When the mouse is dragged across the answer with button one pressed, the solution is highlighted. [This doesn't work in text browsers such as Lynx or Links. I had hoped to find a text method, and I might yet, but that is in the future.]

I combined this with a technique I found elsewhere (I don't remember where) for switching between two or more stylesheets. By clicking in the link at the top right corner of the page, you can switch back and forth between showing and hiding the answers. There should also be a style option under your browser's View menu where you can choose between the Hide and Show stylesheets.
