Question 5. Shilpa Shetty is appearing on "Celebrity Big Brother".
This is not the same show as "Big Brother"; it's a spinoff.

Question 10. Tracy of Reach for the Tap said that acetylene, benzene,
butane, ethane, ethylene, methane, propane, octane, and toluene are
"flammable gases"; this is wrong, as benzene, octane, and toluene
are liquids. Tracy also protested "organic compounds" for 1. While
this is correct, it's so general an answer that we cannot accept it.
(There are many, many kinds of organic compounds besides hydrocarbons.)
Both protests denied.
Round 8
Question 1. Mel of Misplaced Modifiers named the Chippawa River instead
of the Welland. Apparently this is, or used to be, an alternate name
for the lower part of the river. If you Google for the name you will
find various uses of it, but most of them in historical contexts.
As to current usage, the name is not in the The Canadian Geographical
Names Data Base (it does show a Chippawa Channel, but that's part
of the Niagara River) or on any map we checked. But Mel cited the
Columbia Gazetteer of North America, 2000, which does list it as an
alternate name, and so we're accepting the protest for 2 points.
Question 8. The major city nearest the confluence of the Uruguay River
with the delta of the Paraná is indeed Buenos Aires. Montevideo is
about 150 miles to the east, while Asuncion is about 600 miles north,
although it is on the Uruguay River. Both protests denied for Barrie
of MI5.
