Week 9 Protests

All protests resolved

Round 4 #7 Tony of the Rats said that Russ Howard was brought in to lead the Canadian mens curling team at the last minute. Howard was definitely added to the team because of his many years of experience but he was not the lead. Brad Gushue remained as the lead. No points.

Round 3 #4 Brian of the Spades said that the area on the Roman Provinces map ( #21) was not correct for Armenia. He is correct. An error was made and #17 was actually Armenia. However we have no way of giving points for this as no correct answer was (or could be) given. Sorry.

Round 9 #4 John of AOT protested Borders as having Starbucks coffee shops as well as (or rather than) Barnes and Noble. B&N is the main partner for Starbucks in the US but some overseas Borders have Starbucks locations. Also Borders is branding their coffee shops as Seattle's Best Coffee, which is a subsidiary of Starbucks, so we will allow this protest. 2 points.

Round 10 #10 BJ from the Axxe protested that the baseline for the International system for time is still called GMT. The term GMT is still used colloquially but the official name is now UTC. UTC is based on an atomic clock and is a lot more accurate than measuring the sunrise over Greenwich. No points.
