Week 4 Protests
All protests resolved
- Round 3:Q8
- Jim of Azzuri said that " Chemical
composition" should be enough for how
to tell a meteor from a rock. We were
looking for the fact that they
contain solid particles of iron. Jim
says that Chondrites are soft meteors
which contain iron but not in
particles. Chemical composition is
not enough. There are lots of rocks
that contain the same elements as
meteors, such as iron and nickel.
Meteorites actually contain particles
of iron and nickel that can be seen
either with the naked eye or in some
cases with a microscope. No Points
Brian of Unnatural Axxe said that the
presence of Iridium was a good
indicator as it is rare on earth.
Iridium is not that rare. It is found
in nickel mines in Sudbury and
Russia. Therefore it is a not a good
indicator if something is a meteor.

- Round 6:Q1
- Amy of Azzuri protested that Ken
Thomson was worth $19 billion, as had
been reported that day on CBC. The
article on which the round was based
in Canadian Business said $22 billion
for the Thomson clan, which is what
we had asked for.. Maybe $19 billion
was his personal wealth. No Points
- Round 8:Q1
- John of On a Roll suggested
Peloponnesian War instead of Persian
Wars, The battle of Marathon, which
was mentioned in the question, was
definitely in the Persian Wars. No
Points
There was some confusion in what had
been protested by AOT for the Persian
war question. Once again the
confusion was because there was a
mistake in the question, in this case
with the dates of the war. Jim of AOT
gave Peloponnesian War for 2 and
Persian War for 1. He gets his 1
point.
