Week 9 Protests

Round 1:Q10
Gord of Footloose & Firkin Free protested "Lawren Harris" instead of M. Cullen ("The price of the painting doesn't merit a painter named M. Cullen"). From the Globe & Mail, "Leading the way in an extremely strong showing was The Bird Shop, St. Lawrence Street, a large oil completed around 1920 by Quebec master Maurice Galbraith Cullen, that sold for $1.495-million, including premium. This was about five times higher than its high-end presale estimate. It also smashed the old record of $420,000 (excluding premium) for a Cullen set in 2002". Protest DENIED.
Round 6:Q4
Al of Sam's Spades protested "Tennessee Valley Authority" for 2 pts. Protest ACCEPTED.
Round 7:Q3
Dave of Footloose & Firkin Free protested "Great Britain" ("With all due respect, Great Britain is considered a country") for the Scottish phone booth for 2 pts. From the author of the round: "Officially, protest ACCEPTED. Unofficially, not in the spirit of the question, but who am I to argue?"
Round 10:QF2
BJ of Unnatural Axxe protested Lake Baikal as the deepest point for a 1 pt. steal. Protest PENDING.
Round 10:QA1
Kelly of On a Roll thinks the first to be called "World's Fair" was in St. Louis (not exposition) for 2 pts. Protest PENDING.

"Pending" means a decision has not yet been made.

The protests are entered as they are received. They are reviewed by the setter of the round. That person's decision may or may not be discussed by the team. When a decision is made, it will be posted.
