Round 2 - Connecting bodies of water

Q8.
For The Øresund:
  • John, of MI5, protested Little Belt (Lille Bælt); it, too, is bridged, so protest ACCEPTED. Clarification is needed whether this was for 1 or 2 points.
  • Cy, of the Usual Suspects, gave "The Sound", which is the accepted English translation. Protest ACCEPTED for 2 points.
Q4.
Zvi, of the Usual Suspects, protested Seymour Narrows for Queen Charlotte Sound. Not shown on all maps, the Seymour Narrows (as well as Johnstone Strait and Queen Charlotte Strait) separate the north end of the Strait of Georgia from the Pacific. Protest ACCEPTED for 1 point.
Q9.
The Cellar Rats protested that Sault Ste. Marie is French for St. Mary's River; it isn't. Protest DENIED.

Round 6

Q6
Jim, of Unnatural Axxe, said 1870 for date of Riel's first rebellion. Protest ACCEPTED for 2 points.
Jeanette, of On a Roll, protested 1871. As this is, for the first uprising, within the range specified, protest ACCEPTED. Clarification is needed whether this was for 1 or 2 points.

Round 10

Q9.
For cubit:
  • Greg, of What He Said, protested that a cubit was the distance from nose to thumb. That was a yard; protest DENIED.
  • Zvi, of the Usual Suspects, protested that the biblical definition of a cubit was from thumb to elbow. We can find no definition in the Bible (KJV), but dictionaries say it was an ancient measure equal to the length of the forearm, or 18 to 20 inches. As my (CFAJ's) forearm, elbow to thumb measures 18 inches, protest ACCEPTED for 1 point.
